The Lady Cards are coming off a great win in their first game of the 2016-2017 season and now enter the Rice Consolidated Tournament.

Day 1

Columbus faced the home team Rice Consolidated in the first game of the tournament.  The Lady Cards took the lead after the first quarter and never looked back, winning 41-34.  It was a good start to the tournament.  Game leaders were:  Shorter with 9 Points, Carter with 10 Rebounds, Perrino with 2 Blocks, Theut with 6 Steals and Theut with 3 Assists.

In the second game of the day, the Lady Cards faced Brookshire Royal.  This came was close from start to finish.  The two teams would exchange leads the entire game with the Lady Cards coming out victorious in overtime 54-50.  Game Leaders were:  Shorter with 17 Points, Collier with 8 Rebounds, Theut with 4 Blocks, Shorter with 5 Steals and Shorter and Haines with 5 Assists each.

Day 2

The Lady Cards come into Day 2 of the tournament undefeated with a 2-0 record.  Their next opponent would be Giddings.  Columbus jumped on Giddings quick and never let up.  They turned their early lead into a 12 point with 35-23.  Game Leaders were:  Shorter with 9 Points, Shorter with 5 Rebounds, Theut with 2 Blocks, Theut with 6 Steals and Theut with 6 Assists.

In the fourth game of the tournament the Lady Cards would once again face Giddings.  The Lady Cards kept their momentum from the first match up and beat Giddings by 15 this time around 34-19.  Game Leaders are:  Perrino with 12 Points, Perrino with 6 Rebounds, Stovall, Shorter, Weido and Perrino with 1 Block each, Stovall and Theut with 3 Steals each and Theut with 5 Assits.  With this win the Cardinals improve to 4-0 in the tournament and will be in the Championship Bracket for Day 3.

Day 3

Day 3 would start off just like Day 1, with a matchup against Rice Consolidated.  This game was much tougher than the first.  The Lady Cards were down 20-14 going into halftime.  Morrison must have told the girls something to get them going, because the Lady Cards came out hot outscoring Rice by 7 in the third and eventually winning the game 42-38.  Game Leaders were:  Carter with 15 Points, Shorter and Carter with 8 Rebounds each, Shorter with 2 Steals and Haines with 5 Assists.  This win put the Lady Cards in the Championship Game.

Columbus would face Navasota in the Championship Game.  The Lady Cards kept it close in the first quarter only being down 11-9.  Navasota went on a run in the second and third quarters to go up 51-20.  The Lady Cards outscored Navasota 15-12 in the fourth, but unfortunately lost the game 63-35.  Game Leaders were:  Theut with 15 Points, Carter with 9 Rebounds, Shorter, Theut, Perrino and Collier with 1 Block each, Shorter with 3 Steals and Theut with 4 Assits.

It was a great tournament for the Lady Cards.  Columbus is now 6-1 on the season and their next game with be against Rice Consolidated in Columbus.
